The CSRA is proud to welcome Lorton Mitchell Homes as a Charter Corporate Premium Steward. Their commitment to CSR practices both environmentally and on a social level is a corporate priority to the company, ownership and their employees.

Lorton Mitchell has known he wanted to build homes since 1967 when his parents built their own home in Coronado, California. After spending most of his teenage years in the Coronado High School woodshop he moved on to San Luis Obispo, California where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction from the School of Architecture at Cal Poly. He helped pay his way through college by working in cabinet shops and construction sites. After graduation he worked in two architects offices but soon grew weary of sitting at a drafting table and started his own small construction company in 1984.

Lorton currently lives in Coronado with his 3 children and wife of 20 years. He is active in the community and was recently on the R4 zoning committee. He is a member of the San Diego Better Business Bureau, Coronado Chamber of Commerce, master builders association and the Coronado historical association.lortonhomephoto2.jpg He coached little league and soccer for many years and is now the head coach for the Coronado High School Surf team and enjoys many of the things Coronado has to offer including fishing, surfing, golf and tennis.

He still enjoys building and can be seen every day moving from job to job in his recently purchased electric cart supervising every aspect of the building process.

John McCaull is Superintendant for Lorton Mitchell Homes for over 20 years. John is a Master Carpenter and also has skills in foundation and general framing.

He is in charge of scheduling, coordination and general supervision of sub-contractors on the job site. He further orders all the supplies and materials, performs problem solving and developing creative solutions to unique conditions arising in the field. His attention to detail in finished carpentry specializing in molding, cabinetry and trim work are second-to-none in the field. Utilizing all of these specialties brings all the projects to completion as required by the client.lortonhomephoto.jpg

Prior to joining Lorton Mitchell in Coronado, John worked for the Navy at Moffett Field Naval Base and Coronado Shores. He attended Mesa Junior College and Foothill College.

John was born in Coronado and has lived his entire life in the Pacific Rim and enjoys many of the outdoor sports that can be found in Coronado. He has been married to his wife Ann for twenty years and has a 13 year old son. John volunteers as a Coronado Youth Football Coach and is a member of the Coronado Yacht Club. John, via Lorton Mitchell Custom Homes recently restored and added onto his Spanish home constructed in 1925.

Murray Nies had the good fortune to learn some of the “Tricks of the Trade” from his dad – an old-school carpenter, whose favorite challenge was to “make it work” when no one else could. That kind of thinking has proven to be useful for over twenty years while working for Lorton Mitchell. “We like those challenging projects – the ones which maybe the other guys don’t want to tackle. Pretty much every person on our crew knows what good work should look and we all work together very closely to provide that true quality. We are very proud of the many fine homes we have built in Coronado and look forward to building yours.

Shortly after graduating from Coronado High School, I was invited to join Lorton's team as an apprentice. lortonhomephoto3.jpgLiving and growing up in Coronado for the past 13 years has given me a great appreciation of this town and its people. In the early 1940's, my grandparents first moved to Coronado where they were very involved in this town and the well being of its future. Being a third generation Coronadian, I am very excited to be with Lorton Mitchell custom homes, so that I myself can make a mark on this beautiful town. And just like my family, I also want to add to the well being of Coronado's future by building beautiful custom homes. I'm looking forward to working on your house.
